Snapchat Outlines New Initiatives to Celebrate Black History Month
Snapchat Outlines New Initiatives to Celebrate Black History Month | Social Media Today
Snapchat has outlined its plan to celebrate and promote its Black History Month initiatives. These plans include themed spotlight challenges, new AR filters, and a new partnership to ensure representation across all features. Snapchat’s spotlight feature has decided to create challenges and award $40,000 to creators who take part in them. An example of one of these challenges is to “use a location tag for your favorite local #BlackOwnedBusiness and tell us why you support them”. Snapchat’s spotlight is a full-screen, vertical scrolling video shift, which has become very popular for this app. While it is very similar to TikTok, Snapchat believes this feature keeps more of their users from migrating to other apps. Through these challenges and celebratory posts, Snapchat believes this is a good way to promote its Black History initiatives.
