Life as a Retired College Athlete – Finding new passions now that soccer is over
I just finished my senior season playing soccer here at Gonzaga University. I am now considered a retired student athlete. This is my first and last semester without having any obligations except school. I get to work out on my own time and enjoy creative workout plans. I can go to work out classes and try different activities. I am very excited about this. I have grown up playing soccer, so every workout was soccer focused. I can’t remember of a day without thinking how will this help me in soccer. I have a negative notion towards running because I have grown up running to pass a fitness test. Every time I have gone for a run or have done any type of cardio, I am constantly pushing myself to my limits. I have sworn off any form of running for a while because I don’t think I am capable of going on a slow relaxing run. I want to eventually get there, but I don’t think I can yet.
These days, my workouts look like swimming and weightlifting. I have found some influencers that I follow who provide workout plans. So, between swimming and weightlifting, I get my workouts in. I am also on the lookout to find some free trials for workout classes around Spokane. If you know of any places, let me know!
